It started with an 8-year-old hatchet-wielding Lee Heider who was obsessed with climbing (as
well as occasionally falling out of) every large tree around his family home. That 8-year-old eventually
turned into a teenager with a chainsaw and splitting maul who bought his first truck with money he
made from splitting and selling firewood off that same property.
Upon turning 18 Lee began working in the mining industry, and between jobs he found himself working for a nearby
tree service out of Charlottesville, Virginia. Eventually, he left to return to Pennsylvania and though he continued to work
in the mining industry he had really found his passion working
with trees. He bought his own professional climbing equipment to pursue tree work as a hobby outside
of his career, and did extensive research in order to expand upon what he learned whilst in Virginia.
Soon enough, he was skillfully climbing and felling trees on his own property, as well as for neighbors,
friends, and family. Lee had wanted to start his own tree service for years before he finally found the
right time to do it at the beginning of 2025. That January, FLOOD CITY TREE, LLC was born!
FLOOD CITY TREE, LLC's goal is to provide an affordable and
professional service to those in need of tree removal, tree maintenance, and forestry practices that can
benefit both wildlife and property owners. We can handle a variety of jobs, commercial
or residential, that also help create tree-based wildlife habitat on both small and large properties
through a variety of different methods such as girdling and snag creation.
Lee is still employed full time in the mining industry, and in his spare time is an avid lover of
adrenaline sports such as Class V+ whitewater kayaking, climbing (no surprise there!), and caving
throughout the eastern US with his partner and friends. Him and his girlfriend are all-around DIY-ers,
and the proud parents of two coonhounds, a goose, and a variety of other critters. They live together on
the same property he grew up on in Hollsopple, Pennsylvania.
